HERMANOS GUZANOS - "The Worm People" Cover Variations (2024)

 

1997 was officially the year we made our last tape which was called "The Worm People."

 

Here's some examples of what the cover might have looked like if we had made it today!

 

 

I've made dozens of these, but this group is among the best!

 

 

Some of the worms are pretty slimy characters.

RICH ARITHMETIC - "Pushbutton Romance" (2024)

 

Rich Arithmetic has added another album to his already amazing portfolio, songs falling into a number of different styles and genres – Power Pop, Alt-Pop, Baroque, Quirky Pop, Power Folk, Retro Pop, Art Pop, Sunshine & Surf and Jangle Pop. There are no minuses, only pluses.

 

Once again Rich is joined by his friends Lance Morgan, and Charlie Maliszewski, with more help from Ruppi Barnickel, Dan Dean, Kevin Bonner and Marvin & Ann Hunt. The kool CD artwork was created by May May Gong, who also played the cello on four of the songs.
 

I'm sure eventually it will be on Bandcamp and other locations, but for now Kool Kat's the place to go if you want a copy because it will be officially released on February 23, for which they are now taking orders.

HERMANOS GUZANOS - "Country Fried Worms" (2024)

 

I don't know about the rest of you, but a lot of this A-I stuff cracks me up, so here's ten shots at what our tape from 1991 titled "Country Fried Worms" might look like if we released it today!

 

 

I don't have time to fix the spelling on all of these, and I think I've figured out why A-I art produces so much gibberish. It's because it knows that there's a whole lot of people today that can't spell anyway, so what difference does it make. As long as it looks close, that's good enough!

 

 

This one is probably the closest to what the three of us really looked like, and our fan base too!

 

 

I love the letters in the title of this one.

 

 

Country, County, who cares?

 

I need to get some of these tee shirts printed up.

 

 

Every once in a while everything is spelled correctly!

NO PIGEONHOLES - ROTWEILERS - "Super Heavy" (1994)

This is a song by a band called the Rotweilers that I got from one of Don Campau's "No Pigeonholes" radio show tapes that he sent me back in the day. I got a copy because I had a song on this show too.

I looked all over the place and I couldn't find out any more information on the Rotweilers, but on the show, Don said that they were from Cincinnati, Ohio.

This krazy A-I image is a lot more fun.

I don't know what the name of this cool Danzig sounding song is, but according to Don, the tape was called "Super Heavy."

PUMF RECORDS 40TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY RELEASE - A-void - "non​-​alphanumeric symbol"

 

Pumf Records is having a 40th freakin' anniversary, and to celebrate it, they are offering all kinds of goodies like a free download of their very first release back in 1984 by A-void. Here's a cool photo of pStan back in the day. You can read the whole story of A-void right

HERMANOS GUZANOS - "Out Of The Past, And Into The Future" Part II

 

This tape was so rejectable that I couldn't even get the word Rejects spelled correctly!

 

Our next release was mostly covers with a couple of ducks thrown in for good measure.

 

Next was a compilation I put together titled "Refried Dreams" that featured a bunch of great artists I had met by mailing out our tapes to anybody I could think of.

 

On that tape we had an instrumental quasi-surf song called "Gringo."

 

Our next tape was one of my favorites and was called

"UFO Executives," a title we stole from an album I found at a swap meet by a group named "AFO Executives."

Then came the prophetic "Back In The Alley." 

So that's what about two thirds of our catalogue might have looked like today!

HERMANOS GUZANOS - "Out Of The Past, And Into The Future"

 

Let's get the Hell out of the past, and into the future on this eve of the year 2024.

Here's a look at what some of our tapes from the 80's and 90's might have looked like if we had made them today.

To start with, this is how "Sleaze Weasels," one of our very first tapes could have turned out!

 

I love this version of "Bombs From Heaven," and this is one of the rare ones where everything got spelled correctly!

 

"Pancho's Arena" was originally made in about 1986.

 

Maybe instead of our first multi-track tape having a brilliant drawing like this by Brian James Riedel....

.......We might have gone with something simpler like this!

1988 was the year we brought out "Too Close To The Kitty."

 

Our "X-13" tape from 1989 featured '13 Cuts From Beyond.'

So that's about half of them, maybe I'll get around to the other half sometime next year!
