HIGH RISK OF RAINBOWS AND HAIR RIBBONS - " I Got The Corona Virus - 19 Blues" (2020)

Chris Phinney released this freakin' amazing compilation today titled...
"High Risk of Rainbows & Hair Ribbons (I Got the Corona Virus - 19 Blues)!"
This is the way Chris describes the project...
"This album came about as the result of a conversation between myself & Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt March 20th, where we discussed circling all the wagons & going out with our boots on due to the virus & health conditions. We leave here a digital footprint actually a bootprint."

This compilation features 98 incredible International artists of all genres, many who go all the way back to the D.I.Y. tape years of the 80's and some even earlier!
It's over six hours long, and is a free download on Bandcamp!!
Get it while you can, we're all in this together!
I was going to give you a sample but why waste your time here, just go to the Bandcamp link and listen to one or all 98, or download the whole project in a format of your choice!

THE EBERLY BROTHERS - "Valeriana Officinalis" (1989)

This was a great tape put out in 1989 by John and Doug Eberly, better known as The Eberly Brothers!
I found this website for John!

Everything that John E. did was masterful in my opinion from working with his brother to working with his band called "The Mumbles."

Straight out of Wichita, this tape has it all !

There's remixes of 1988 rehearsal sessions!

There's cuts recorded 'live' at places like The El Macombo Lounge, and The Coyote Club!

There are also covers of "Up From The Skies," & "House Of The Rising Sun."

This is the actual tape that this was recorded on. Talk about recycling 101, thank you Jesus!

MENTAL ANGUISH - "Flotsam" (2006)

A lot of artists from the 80's and 90's aren't around any more, but quite a few have continued through the years, and one of the most productive has been Chris Phinney and his "Harsh Reality" label.
"Flotsam" is a fascinating release by Mental Anguish done in 2006, and most recently made available from "Harsh Reality's" Bandcamp page.

Chris was kind enough to send along some photos he's taken that will help set the mood!
These two were shot in New Mexico.

where you can get lost for hours or days!

Those last four gorgeous photos were taken in Pensacola, Florida, along with the next two!

There's many different styles of sound on "Flotsam" and you can listen to them all, or dig down deep and pay a dollar to own it all. Now that's a deal,
and you can find it right here! Mental Anguish - "Flotsam"

It's all great but one of the standout tracks is this beautifully ethereal and haunting tune that matches these photos, especially these from Sedona, Arizona. This song has vocals by Skantkin and it just might make you feel better about life for a couple of minutes, then you can listen to the other version and make that feeling last even longer!

BUD KING AND THE DIODE TRIO - "Good-Bye Kookaburra" (2017)

It just doesn't get much better than good ole Bud King and the Diode Trio outta New York!
This 2017 CD was called "Good-Bye Kookaburra" for a reason, a very good reason!

As the CD notes say, "On the shutting down of all 3 transmitters of S.W. Radio Australia International (Formerly Known World-Wide as "Australia Calling" on Jan 30, 2017) The cry of the Kookaburra and the melody of  "Waltzing Matilda" which were it's themes never to echo across the S.W. airways again - A service to the Out-Back and remote islands since WWII."
What a shame!
