CHRIS PHINNEY & ED DRURY - "Ayuda" (2020)

It's difficult times we live in today, but Ed Drury and Chris Phinney aren't letting it stop them, in fact, it's just the opposite. Ed and Chris have been cranking out a tune every day or two for the last month or so, and it just keeps getting better! Even though they live on opposite sides of the country, they seem to be on exactly the same wavelength!
Here's from the liner notes!
"Mental Illness effects more people than most diseases. We dedicate this album to all that are suffering mentally..in it's various different forms. May the sun rise up & caress your face!"
Ed has kind of laid his guitar down for this session, and although it changes from tune to tune, the instrumentation is basically:
Ed Drury -Didgeredoo, Synths, Tibetan Bowl, Native American chant loops, Medicine drum, Clavichord etc.
and
Chris Phinney - Synths, FX, Treated bells, D. program, final mix etc. at HRM

FROZEN PLASTIC - "Glider" (1992)

Here's an interesting CD that it's hard to find any extra information about! I can tell you that it was created by a pair of Jeffs, Farley and Charreaux. Jeff Farley was in a group called Astrobleme, and Jeff Charreaux was in the very cool band called Ultraviolet Eye. One of Jeff C's more current projects is a group called "The Walker Brigade."
Jeff Charreaux had sent me some CDs, and some video tapes to be used on our public access TV show called "Offbeat," and I'm pretty sure this is from the same early 1990's period, even though there is no date on this CD!

This was a side venture that Jeff and Jeff were having fun with, and was actually made to be used as background music. They said it was a tribute to Brian Eno's "Music For Airports" LP from 1978.
So they called themselves Frozen Plastic, and the name of this CD was "Glider." It had three distinct sections, "Sky," "Land," and "Sea," of which I'll present one to you!

POINT*NO*POINT - "Blankets & Sheets" (1988)

"Blankets And Sheets" was a cassette of cover tunes made by the band Point*No*Point in 1988 to basically hand out to club owners so they could hear how the boys could rock the house!

I never knew Rich Horton back then, so I think it's pretty funny that the following year, we put out our tape of covers called "Ducks And Covers."

The members of the band at the time were Rich Arithmetic - Lead Guitar, Vocals, Lance Morgan - Organ, Guitar, and Vocals, Marc Strader on Bass and Backing Vocals, and Rob Moore - Drums and Tambourine.

Some of this stuff is just standard fare, but the medley of "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White/That's What I Like About You" is about as good of a two song mashup as you'll ever hear!

LORD LITTER'S TAPEDEPARTMENT RADIOSHOW NO 2 (1991)

This a tape of a radio show called "Tapedepartment" done by Lord Litter almost thirty years ago that was produced for Radio Marabu where he still continues to have a show to this day!

I'm pretty sure Lord Litter's current shows would be more popular but most people these days just can't handle this much good music. They might have to think! Want to submit some music 30 years later, then this is still his address!

This was going to be the cover of a tape we were going to do at about the same time that unfortunately never happened, that included Lord Litter, John Bartles, Don Campau, Michael Gonzales, and our pal, the long deceased Slim the Drifter.

The reason Lord Litter had sent me this tape was because I had done an interview via tape and mail explaining our cool and new public access TV show called "Offbeat," that he had used on the show followed by one of our songs called "Death Train," but instead of that, here's the intro to the show followed by a very cool UK group who were called Ripzmag.

This cassette called "Grapple" is where the song came from.

The band members were Tim Perkins on guitar/vocals, Chris Barber on bass/vocals, and Pete Brownjohn on percussion
Since I am still in touch with Lord Litter these days, he informed me that Tim worked with comic book writer extraordinaire Alan Moore, co-writing/producing five albums and participating in mixed media performances, and Chris and Pete both also were on Alan Moore's 2011 CD titled "A Compilation Of Songs And Performances By Alan Moore And Friends."

555 - "Gajoob Issue #7 - Sampler #2" (1991)

Issue # 7 of Gajoob contained no less than eight tapes that accompanied it.
It's really an amazing accomplishment if you think about it

Pretty wild assortment, but that was what made it so cool!
You never knew what to expect!

555 was the solo project of a guy named John Six from Rego Park, N.Y., but that's about all I can tell you. I looked in all the standard places, but came up empty handed. I did find five bands called 555, and one artist named John Six on Bandcamp, but I don't think any of them have anything to do with this 555.
This is just acoustic guitar and percussion made from a can of rice played by John Six, hence the title.

CHRIS PHINNEY AND ED DRURY - "Who Will Feed The Pigs" (2020)

Some people don't know what to do with all the extra free time they have these days, and then some do! Chris Phinney and Ed Drury are among the ones who do, so while most people are sitting at home twiddling their thumbs, these two guys have been very busy twiddling knobs and creating music that really sets the mood for where we are at these days.

Ed and Chris just put the finishing touches on a new release they made available 9-24-2020 on Chris's Harsh Reality label called "Who Will Feed The Pigs"  and you can download all 19 tracks for a buck! It might look like there are only 18 tracks, but when you purchase it, you get access to the hidden 19th track.

Here's a tune I think will put you in the mood!
