SLIM THE DRIFTER - "Dances With Downers" (1991)

I can't really believe it's taken me this long to get around to this tape. The only reason was I have probably the only sealed copy in the whole world, and I could just never bear to open it until now.
"Dances With Downers" was a 1991 release put out by our good buddy Slim The Drifter, aka Scott Sturtevant.
The brilliant cover illustration was done by comix artist extraordinaire Brian James Riedel.
Slim was one of the most talented people I have ever known, but he was also one of the biggest messes I have ever known, and a true tortured artist.
He was a good friend who was the only person I could depend on to help me one time when I had to move despite his failing health.

Slim The Drifter was the real deal, and he took his name from one of  his heroes Hank Williams, aka Luke The Drifter. Slim even went so far as to work as a carnie before he passed away.
Slim was the only artist besides ourselves to ever grace the Guzbro Label, and as a truly independent artist, he relished the opportunity. A self-confessed drugstore cowboy, his heavy drinking made him difficult to be around at times, but inside, there was the heart of a good man.
